Agrovirology

Research Interests

• Investigation of viruses infecting the honey bee (Apis mellifera) and transmitted by the parasite Varroa destructor mite, with emphasis on the Deformed Wing Virus (DWV) and its major variants, DWV-A and DWV-B.
•  Study of viruses affecting deciduous fruit trees and grapevines, focusing on their impact on plant health and productivity.
•  Research and application of bacteriophages as biological agents for controlling bacterial infections in agriculture and the environment.
•  Development of innovative tools for early detection and rapid diagnosis of viral outbreaks in agricultural systems.
•  Development of sustainable approaches for the prevention and management of viral epidemics in agriculture.
